With Hyperprism-PPC, processing is done on the fly, on audio files of any length (AIFF and Sound Designer II™ formats) with automatic recording of your effect parameter changes over time!
This means you can save and replay your variations with minimum space requirements: only the effect parameters values are stored.
This means also that Hyperprism is non-destructive: the samples of your original files remain untouched, unless you want it of course.

Before Anything Else:
You may need the OjectSupportLib Extension to run any of Hyperprism-PPC products, depending on the current version of your System Software. This can be found in our Utilities folder (CD-ROM) or on our web site, "Latest Updates" page, Software Utilities section (bottom of the page).
When you have this file, simply drag it on your System folder and restart your computer.

How the DEMO Works
• Copy the Hyperprism-PPC Demo, Presets, sounds and Fx document files onto your hard disk.
• Keep the Presets file in the same folder or at the same level as Hyperprism-PPC DEMO.
• Launch it!
• Do Open from the File menu and select any of the Traviata or Rythmic "-Fx" files.
• We suggest you start watching the examples provided. To understand how the a paticular effect works you need to select the right preset for the appropriate example depending on what kind of effect you expect. :
• Open "Rhythmic-FX" and double-click on the Process named "Tempo Example".
• Select the Preset "Speed 75-200" in the pop-up menu.
Note how the vertical scale (Pitch) indicates a range from 100% to 100%: This means no pitch change.
• Click on the Loop button in the Playback palette.
• Click on Play or hit the spacebar once. Look and listen:
No matter what tempo is applied to the rhythmic loop the pitch remains the same!
• You can now create any number of new Blue Windows from the Processes menu, create your own parameter paths, try other Presets from the list and try any Settings you like (the name of the preset will change to "Custom").
Note: You can draw straight lines by pressing the Shift key before pressing the mouse button.
• Open "Traviata-FX" and double click on the Process named "Pitch Example".
• Select the Preset "Pitch 80-120" in the pop-up menu.
Note how the horizontal scale (Speed) indicates a range from 100% to 100%: This means no tempo change.
• Click on Play or hit the spacebar once. Look and listen as the voice is transposed up and down
• You can now create any number of new Blue Windows from the Processes menu, create your own parameter paths, try other Presets from the list and try any Settings you like (the name of the preset will change to "Custom").
Note: You can draw straight lines by pressing the arrow keys on your keyboard, one pixel at a time or 10 pixels at a time with Option-Arrow.
• There is nothing really to add! From now on you can be on your own: It's easy: All you need is your mouse and your ears!
Note: To change a Process name, select it and do a Get Info.
IMPORTANT:
Most Hyperprism-PPC algorithms have been designed to give you maximum freedom for "on the fly" effect parameter entries. This is because pushing parameters towards extremes can lead to very interesting auditory results.
This means also that for certain extreme values, "the laws of acoustic can be broken!" When this happens, Hyperprism's Peak Meters will saturate and the sound will stop (there is nothing that looks like a sound to be heard anyway). In this case you'll have to step back by reajusting your tracer or slider position. In the worst case scenario, you'll have to push the Stop button.
TECHNICAL NOTE
• Compatibility of Hyperprism-PPC and Digidesign audio hardware
Routing your signals through the I/O ports of Digidesign hardware is possible if you use the appropriate Digidesign Sound Drivers (one Extension file) and configure it from your Sound Control Panel.
Please note however that Digidesign may not guarantee compatibility of all its Drivers with the Sound Manager. We found that version 1.31 of the Digidesign Sound Drivers gave satisfactory auditory results with Hyperprism-PPC. This Driver is ncluded in the Utilities folder of Hyperprism CD-ROM 1.01 or downloadable from our web site.
